What we do

We test small cleaning appliances in ordinary homes rather than in a lab. Every vacuum on this site is used for real cleaning over at least two weeks: car footwells, stair edges, upholstery with pet hair, and kitchen crumb duty.

How we test

Each unit runs the same three passes — dry oats on low-pile carpet, sand in a car footwell, and cat hair worked into woven upholstery — and we record how many passes are needed to clear a 30cm square, empty and half-full. We also log how often each unit is picked up during the test period, because a vacuum you do not reach for cleans nothing.

How products are selected
